1. Pre-Discovery

All initial inquiries and in-person meetings are conducted free of charge. At this stage, we strive to understand your business model, your challenges and issues you are facing. We ask questions and we listen carefully. The end-goal of this complimentary consultation is to determine if our approach and service offering is of value to your company. If we mutually decide that it is, the next step is the formal Discovery Process.

2. Discovery

Discovery is a billed service designed to analyze & understand every key aspect of your business. We ask questions designed to identify your business strengths & weaknesses, analyze critical financial & operational measurements and evaluate your key financial management personnel & their processes. This process typically takes several weeks in a series of meetings, phone calls, and e-mail communications. Along the way, the CLM team is providing you with ongoing feedback and uncovering additional questions to ask. It is both an information-gathering process AND a consultative process. The capstone of Discovery is:

A Written Report

A Written Report documents our findings and provides specific recommendations. We do not expect to solve problems or implement change during Discovery; rather, we identify & clarify your current situation, outlook and specific areas of your business to change or to investigate further. The value of this process is two-fold:

1) Your business has contracted a thorough, investigative process with a detailed business analysis written by season business advisory professionals.

2) If you subsequently engage us as your Fiscal Management Consultants, we are able to “hit the ground running” with a clear idea of what to do and when to do it.

3. ADVISORY ENGAGEMENTS

Following the identification of implementation efforts by our firm in discovery, the Client is offered a fixed fee monthly engagement to review critical metrics & reports which focus on our client’s profitability, tax planning & strategies, banking and other strategic & personnel issues that are important. This keeps the client’s ownership team engaged and able to respond to changing conditions, while monitoring any consultative projects that are engaged. Essentially this includes an ongoing re-discovery process both operationally & financially. A condensed response time to correct or change a condition, reduces the cost of inaction, and increases profit & sales.

4. MANAGED IMPLEMENTATION PROJECTS

From time to time CLM Advisors and Client will mutually agree on a Project that is outside the scope of our regular Advisory services. A Project might be short-term or it may take several months. If we need outside expertise, we will help you find it and lead the implementation process. Here are some examples of Project work we do for our clients:
